About the Exam
JEE Main is the national-level entrance exam for admission to B.E. and B.Tech courses in NITs, IIITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) in India. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
JEE Main has three papers. Paper 1 is for B.E. and B.Tech. Paper 2A is for B.Arch and Paper 2B is for B.Planning. Paper 1 is also the gateway to JEE Advanced, the exam for admission to the IITs.
Paper 1 exam pattern: 75 questions, 300 marks, 3 hours. You get +4 marks for a correct answer and −1 mark for a wrong answer. The exam is a computer-based test, held in two shifts a day: 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon and 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Who can apply? Students who passed Class 12 in 2025 or 2026, or are appearing for Class 12 in 2027, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. No age limit is stated in the bulletin.

How to Apply
- Go to the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in and open the JEE Main 2027 Session 1 registration link.
- Register with your name, email ID and mobile number, and create a password.
- Fill in your personal and academic details, choose your paper (Paper 1, 2A or 2B) and select your exam cities.
- Upload your photograph, signature and other documents as asked in the form.
- Pay the application fee online and submit the form.
- Download the confirmation page and keep your application number safe.
Documents needed: recent photograph, signature, Class 10 and Class 12 marksheet or certificate, category certificate (if applicable), PwD certificate (if applicable), and a valid photo ID. Keep your email ID and mobile number ready.
