CBSE Practical Exam Dates 2026–27

CBSE has fixed two separate schedules for practical examinations, project assessments and internal assessments for the 2026–27 session. The split exists because schools in winter-bound regions stay closed in January, when practical exams are held for other schools.

School typePractical exam dates
Winter-bound schools9 November – 19 December 2026
Regular schools (India and abroad)From 1 January 2027

The dates were announced in CBSE circular Coord/Winter Bound/Practical/2026-27, dated 5 November 2026. A separate circular with detailed dates and procedure for regular schools will follow.

What Are Winter-Bound Schools?

Winter-bound schools are CBSE-affiliated schools in hilly and northern regions that remain closed during the peak winter months because of severe cold. That is why their practical exams are held earlier, in November and December, instead of January.

If your school follows the regular academic session, nothing changes for you on 9 November — your practical exams will begin from 1 January 2027.

Guidelines Schools Must Follow

  • Complete all practicals, projects and internal assessment within the given window.
  • Schools must upload one group photograph of every practical batch while the assessment is underway, using the app link given by the board.
  • Marks must be submitted to the board as per its instructions.
  • Students must secure at least 33% marks separately in practicals and theory to pass.

⚠️ LOC Correction Window Closes 7 November — Check Your Details Now

Along with the practical dates, CBSE has opened the List of Candidates (LOC) correction window for Class 10 and Class 12 students appearing in the 2027 board exams. Schools can correct details from 2 November to 7 November 2026.

Only schools can make the corrections — students and parents cannot edit the CBSE portal directly. Ask your school for the data verification slip and check these four things carefully:

  • Your name (spelling as per records)
  • Father’s, mother’s or guardian’s name
  • Date of birth
  • Subjects offered

CBSE has clearly said no correction will be made after 7 November 2026, and no other opportunity will be given. No subject change will be accepted after the window closes. If you find any mistake, tell your school in writing well before Saturday, 7 November.

What Students Should Do Now

  1. Check your LOC details today — get the verification slip from your school and match it with your birth certificate.
  2. Revise practical files and records — keep your practical notebooks, project files and lab records complete and neat.
  3. Practise viva questions — revise the theory behind each experiment, not just the steps.
  4. Do not believe fake date sheets — the theory date sheet for 2027 is not out yet. Check only cbse.gov.in for the real schedule.
  5. Follow your school’s instructions for practical batches, timings and the group photograph.
